The Sunlight Studio is a fully furnished inexpensive 1 bedroom/1 bath vacation rental on the French side of Oyster Pond situated at the small hotel "Soleil de Minuit". This quiet hilltop complex consists of only 5 Studio efficiencies in total, for rent through St-Martin-Vacation.com under the name of "The Sunlight".

The setting at The Sunlight is quiet and restful, given that there are only 4 more units in the same complex of "Le Soleil". The studio is very laid back, peaceful and offers great views of entire Oyster Pond, Captain Oliver's Marina, Oyster Bay Resort with its new tower, "The Lighthouse", and Dawn Beach, The Westin, and the sea beyond. The Sunlight Studio is also one of the most affordable places you will find on the island!

The outdoor areas including the shared freshwater pool, terrace and private patio offer spectacular views of the sea and scenic Oyster Pond, with the remarkable skyline of St. Barth's in the background.

Purposefully small and intimate, this peaceful place is off the main drag, but very close to popular Dawn Beach (2 min by car). The secluded, unserviced beach of Coralita is in walking distance (250 yards), as well as several delightful restaurants, pizzerias and the facilities of Captain Oliver's Marina.

The Sunlight offers a perfect quiet setting for those of you who'd like to be away from the crowd, but not totally alone during your vacation on St. Martin. This secluded studio shares the outdoor facilities with only 4 more units in the same complex!

All 5 individual rental units and the communal areas at "Le Soleil de Minuit" have been extensively renovated and refurbished in the last quarter of 2010. With rates remaining very affordable, The Sunlight Studio in its new look is a great place for exploring nearby Dawn Beach, the marina or other areas of the island. Famous clothing optional Orient Beach, for example, is only 6 miles away, and easy to reach by car without traffic jam!

There are no extravaganza amenities or over-styled design formula here - the setting is casual, "down to earth" and tranquil. The charming studio has a "do-it-yourself" atmosphere for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Enjoy them while admiring the view from the private patio of your Sunlight Studio or the communal BBQ area.

Set alongside the pool, just a few steps higher, the patio of the studio overlooks the pool area and Oyster Pond beyond. It is furnished with a table and chairs, so guests can enjoy breakfast with a great view of the rising sun, dinners or sundowners whilst enjoying the beautiful vistas.

The very high ceiling provides a lofty feeling of space in the studio. It gives also enough room for the sleeper loft upstairs. With a new, powerful A/C plus a ceiling fan this spacious room can be easily kept cool during a hot tropical day or at night time. What's also pleasant in this room is the sunlight, as the sliding door to the patio and several windows (also in the rafters) make the efficiency bright and airy.

When you step inside, you will be pleasantly surprised by the size and spaciousness of The Sunlight Studio! You'll have a comfortable second-floor bed overlooking the living room, a clean, recently renovated private bathroom, a large living area with a well equipped kitchenette, a couch, arm chairs, coffee table, and a new flat TV.

The air-conditioned living room including the kitchenette was completely renovated and partially refurnished last year. The entire studio was newly painted in white and pastel gray. There is also a new parquet floor in the living area and carpet flooring in the redecorated bedroom on the loft.

New in the studio are also the flat screen TV, Satellite service with a few US channels (and French channels) and free WiFi Internet access. Just bring your laptop to hook up!

The kitchenette is small, but very well equipped for its size. The cooking facilities are certainly not designed for extensive family-style cooking, but the advantage is that all is new, neat and clean since recent renovations. For one couple, basically everything is there for preparing breakfast and light meals when dining in.

The bedroom is located on the open sleeper loft and is bedded with a Queen bed with a new mattress and new linens.

A wooden flight of stairs in the living area takes you to the Queen bedroom upstairs. This cozy space is a lovely retreat for a couple. Like everything else in the Sunlight Studio, the loft space was renovated and redecorated last year including a new carpet, new Queen mattress, linens, accessories, and new paint of walls and beams.

The private bathroom offers a single water bowl, cabinets for 'him' and 'her', an extra large mirror, new lighting fixtures, a toilet and a walk-in shower. The bathroom is complete by a good supply of (new!) quality bath towels and a hair dryer.

A washing machine is also available in the Studio. Maid service is provided free of charge on check-out day, and more often on request for a fee.

The pool and BBQ area are usually very quiet, and there are days where you'll be there just by yourself, whilst other guests enjoy one of the fine nearby beaches or attractions on the island...

If you plan to explore St. Maarten/St. Martin, please be advised that a rental car is strongly recommended. There is no regular public transportation on the island that would be suitable for tourists! There are only 'jitney' buses on the main routes that serve the locals to get to their workplace or doing errands. These jitneys do not go to tourist places, e.g. to beaches or restaurants. To get a taxi is no problem, but is more expensive than a rental car.
If you have your own car, please be advised that the parking area at The Sunlight Studio is not suitable for Vans or huge vehicles. The narrow driveway bends rather sharply into the parking area, and doesn't give much space for big cars to maneuver. And to back up down the driveway would be a challenge...

The Soleil de Minuit/Sunlight residence is just across the street from the well known bungalow complex of "Les Balcons d'Oyster Pond ", which will certainly ring a bell to those of you who are familiar with the area. Oyster Pond is a quiet, picturesque area located between Dawn Beach and Coralita Beach/Baie Lucas, with the natural harbor and the Marina in between. Captain Oliver's Marina is very well known by boating people as the marina is a popular shelter for mooring yachts and sailing boats. The area is also known by timeshare owners at the nearby Oyster Bay Resort.

Captain Oliver's Marina	Captain Oliver's Marina offers a few restaurants and local bars (most popular: "The Dinghy Dock"), a grocery store, as well as sailing boat charters. The ferry to St. Barths "The Voyageur" leaves also from Captain Oliver's.
